'In a first performance of Patric Standford's Harpsichord Trio, written for the Ensemble, Julian Hart, the cellist, filled out the long solos in the slow movements with an expansive line whilst the harpsichordist, Sylvia Tait, relied on a strong technique to bring out some important passages in the last movement. The influence of Britten could perhaps be discerned in some of the melodic writing of this agreeable, well-constructed work.'
